The City of Urbana, Ohio is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Administrative Assistant in the Fire Division, under the direction of the Fire Chief. Performs regular clerical, administrative and technical work related to Division records, bookkeeping, communications, grants, human resources, and scheduling. Provides administrative support to the Fire Chief, and shift officers. Assists in training new employees, serves as a member of various employee committees and attend seminars and workshops related to administrative duties and responsibilities.
The qualifications for this position include the following: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as word typing, filing, accounting or bookkeeping, and Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Ability to accurately record and maintain records; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials and the public; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Some skill in operation of computer; including database, email, network, spreadsheet and word processing, copy machine, fax machine, and phone. Working knowledge of knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Some knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
