This position requires a candidate that works well in a team environment and is dedicated to ensuring customers have continuous water and wastewater services through proper operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems, as well as, providing after hours emergency response. This individual reports to the Superintendent of the Water and Wastewater Department and is responsible for operating specialized equipment and applying advanced skills in the safe operation and maintenance of the Village’s water and wastewater systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operating skid loaders, dump trucks, utility locating equipment, electrical/control system troubleshooting and repair, and performing maintenance and inspection of the water and wastewater systems and lift stations; maintains a cooperative and productive working relationship with regulatory agencies, collection and treatment personnel, village personnel and the public; Uses proper traffic control techniques to provide a safe working environment when working in traffic areas.
The qualifications for this position include the following: -High school diploma or equivalent -Required for the candidate to possess, or be able to obtain, an Ohio EPA Water Supply Operator Class 1 within 24 months and an Ohio EPA Class 1 and 2 Wastewater within 3 years. -Prior experience in operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater systems or experience in a skilled trade such as construction, HVAC, electric, concrete, or plumbing is preferred but not required -Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record and maintain qualifications for driving on village business at all times. -Ability to perform basic principles of water and wastewater maintenance; ability to learn computer functions and usage; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; and ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary The pay ranges for this position is $23.18/hour to $27.53/hour depending upon experience and Ohio EPA licensing level. If additional necessary licenses are obtained after employment and a 6 months probationary period, then an additional $0.50 per hour raise will be given.
