Their story commences on May 1, 1988, when Phil Upchurch assumed ownership of Troutwines grocery store, located at 324 North Main Street. However, it wasn't until May 31, 1999, that a significant turning point occurred when Phil's son, Steve Upchurch, took the helm. Under Steve's leadership, the store underwent a profound transformation, culminating in its rebranding as Steve's Market & Deli in September 1999.

April 10, 2004, marked a pivotal moment in the store's history as Steve's Market & Deli extended its reach to a new location: 184 E Maple St, North Lewisburg. This strategic move allowed the store to serve a broader customer base and offer an expanded range of products and services.

One of the most defining moments in Steve's Market & Deli's journey occurred on August 14, 2010, with the introduction of the Family Rewards loyalty program. This initiative not only rewarded loyal customers but also deepened the store's connection with the community, fostering a strong sense of belonging and loyalty.

On December 12, 2014, Kevin Wisma took the reins, while Matt Upchurch began managing the Urbana branch on August 7, 2006.
