Staff Writer at Springfield News-Sun After 36 years of serving ice cream to the Urbana community, the Dairy Corner has a new set of owners. Ken and Teri Jarboe, owners of Sparky’s Pizzeria, 644 Scioto St. in Urbana, showed interest in the Dairy Corner after they recognized previous owners, Bob and Robin Turner, looked “worn out.” Ken told Bob that if they ever wanted to sell the shop, they should sit down and talk. Robin explained that the night before, she and her husband came to the conclusion that “it was time to sell.” That was about a year ago. “Something had to change because we couldn’t physically or mentally work open to close, 7 days a week, 6-9 months a year,” Bob said. The Turners, announced the change of ownership on Aug. 23 via Facebook. On Sept. 2, the Dairy Corner began moving equipment to Sparky’s to have an “express menu” featuring their most popular items. The “express menu” is available the rest of the year offering chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, shakes/malts, sundaes, flurries, banana splits, vanilla soft serve and gourmet frozen treats. After a week of operating the “express menu,” shakes are still the No. 1 item sold at the Dairy Corner. “People are very excited that they’re going to be able to get their (Dairy Corner’s) wonderful products for the entire winter,” Click here to read the full article on Springfield News-Sun. |
