What sports do you play?
Golf and Basketball What has being a student athlete taught you? Being a student-athlete has given me a lot of experience. One lesson I've learned is to never give up no matter what. Even though I have a lot of sports practices and games going on, I still have to concentrate on my schoolwork and what's most essential. Favorite moment as a high school athlete? My favorite moment as a high school student-athlete so far was when our team was playing Graham at UHS, down by one with two seconds left in the game. When we threw it to Jonathan Hiltabran while it was out of bounds, he shot it and it went in just as the buzzer rang. Everyone yelled as they stormed the court. A coach/mentor that has inspired you & why? My father has personally served as a coach and mentor to me. He has encouraged me to put my all into everything that I do. He has always supported me in all my highs and lows.

I am currently a defensive team captain for Urbana Boys Varsity Soccer, and I have also been a part of Urbana Varsity Track and Field. What has being a student athlete taught you? Being a student-athlete has taught me many valuable life lessons. Some of those being failure is a part of the learning process and nothing comes to you without putting in the work. Favorite moment as a high school athlete? My favorite moment as a high school athlete was playing on the field with my older brother, Otto Johnson. He has been a huge motivation and inspiration to me both as an athlete and as a person. A coach/mentor that has inspired you & why? During my high school career, my coach, Mike Grim, has been a major inspiration to me. He always tells us that we can apply a lot of what we learn from sports to our experiences in the real world. He shares motivational speeches with us all the time, telling us that life happens but it's up to us to decide if we're going to let it push us around or if we're going to get back up and take control. He has been my coach throughout my 4 years of high school soccer, and I couldn't ask for a better soccer mentor.
