The Graham Middle School (GMS) FLIGHT program is fortunate to have access to onsite outdoor education facilities including a greenhouse, raised garden beds, and the potential to establish a community garden. We have the need for a part time gardening instructor.
​
Qualifications:
• Experience with organic gardening methods related to greenhouse and raised bed
gardening.
• Experience with composting.
• Experience with hydroponic gardening in a greenhouse, preferred but not required.
• Experience and desire to build interest and excitement of middle school students in
outdoor education.
• Experience and ability to coordinate with additional community resources, e.g. local
Master Gardeners, 4-H, the Extension Service and hydroponic businesses that
enhance the outdoor education program available to middle school students.
• Experience in establishing community gardens, preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and or adapt an existing curriculum specific to the science of horticulture to
systematically teach middle school age students the science and art of small plot
vegetable gardening. The curriculum will modular based upon seasonal requirements
associated with production from seed to market, including the effective use of an onsite
greenhouse.
• Work collaboratively with the FLIGHT Site Coordinator to create a timeline for students
to learn about and participate in soil testing, soil augmentation, composting, weeding,
watering from March through September
• Work collaboratively with the FLIGHT Site Coordinator to create a timeline for students
to plant and harvest vegetables and flowers from March through September.
• Work collaboratively with the FLIGHT Site Coordinator to create a timeline for students
to learn about and participate in weeding, watering, and feeding the wildflower plot to
sustain the onsite honeybee hive that is part of the school day curriculum. March
through September
• Develop and deliver gardening lessons that focus on the science involved in gardening,
planting designs, what plants are compatible plant partners and when and how to plant
according to the timeline.
• Work collaboratively with the FLIGHT Site Coordinator and students to schedule garden
maintenance including watering, weeding, feedings, and organic pest control.
• Develop gardening lessons that utilize the greenhouse to start plant seedlings.
• Develop gardening lessons utilizing hydroponic growing in the greenhouse for year-round production.
• Work collaboratively with the FLIGHT Site Coordinator to create a timeline for students
to maintain hydroponic gardening in the greenhouse October through February.
• Research, design and plan to add community gardening plots for the summer of 2021
that will generate sustainability dollars for the FLIGHT program.

Feed Plant Supervisor

​Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Feed Plant Manager, this position supervises production during their shift while promoting safety and incorporating company policies and procedures at all times.  Must be flexible to work different shifts or weekends if necessary.
 
Essential Functions: (Note: The following list of essential functions is not exhaustive, and may be supplemented as necessary.)
  • Abide by the standards, rules, regulations and policies issued by regulatory agencies and the company
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections
  • Lead by example and make positive contributions to the team each day
  • Estimate labor requirements, prioritize and delegate tasks accordingly
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of production during assigned shift, and observe team members to identify deficiencies, problems or unsafe work habits
  • Develop working knowledge of all equipment, systems and processes
  • Promote safe work behaviors in the feed plant at all times through the use of safety equipment, personal protective equipment and other devices and/or procedures provided or directed by the Feed Plant Manager
  • Conduct inspections of the feed plant and equipment to ensure safe conditions. Elevate the need for changes, upgrades or repairs to the Feed Plant Manager
  • Assess employee effectiveness, work quality, training needs, efficiency, safety consciousness and housekeeping for performance evaluations
  • Review daily production reports to make sure there is sufficient inventory to process orders
  • Effectively communicate with purchasing department ingredient management needs
  • Ensure all receiving paperwork requirements have been met and communicated to the purchasing department
  • Prepare reports including time, end of shift reports, evaluations, promotions and disciplinary actions
PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: All employees of Premier Solutions are responsible for working toward the corporate mission and all quality goals of the organization. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
                                                                       
EDUCATION: High School Diploma, or equivalent (GED), required.  Associates Degree preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year related work experience and three years supervisory experience required.
 
SKILLS: Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, organizational, team-building and people skills are required.  General computer skills, to include Microsoft Office, are essential.
 
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE:  Must have a valid driver’s license.

GMS FLIGHT Site Coordinator

The Graham Middle School (GMS) FLIGHT Program is funded by a 21st Century Grant received by the Champaign Family YMCA in partnership with community leaders and the Graham Local School District. GMS is hiring a FLIGHT Site Coordinator. The vision of the FLIGHT afterschool program in the Graham Local Schools is to create a community in which students are supported by caring community members and where partnerships with families create an environment where all students thrive academically, socially, physically and emotionally. The FLIGHT mission is to provide academic and social enrichment opportunities in the areas of reading/literacy, mathematics, positive youth development, career and college readiness, STEM, and parent/family engagement for all 6th-8th grade students, especially those at risk for school success. The goal of this program is to develop responsible individuals and lifelong learners to better our world.

Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site program coordination during FLIGHT afterschool and summer program hours.
• Collaborate with Graham Middle School staff and administration during the academic day to help align afterschool programming with district priorities. This includes regular participation in Teacher Based Team and Building Leadership Meetings.
• Regularly provide reports documenting progress toward program goals to the Program Manager.
• Establish and maintains systems to ensure the recruitment, enrollment, and regular attendance for FLIGHT program participants.
• Provides oversight and direction to the assistant site coordinator and other program staff to ensure the efficient coordination of daily, weekly, and monthly program activities.
• Guides assistant site coordinator and other program staff in the development of FLIGHT Program aligned professional goals and facilitates evaluation of established goals and provides reports to Program Manager.
• Establish and maintains systems ensure the accurate collection of student records, registration information, rosters, behavior data, parent participation data, and assessment data for grant compliance.
• Provides oversight and direction to ensure the accurate administration of pre-post assessments for reading/math/youth development programs.
• Coordinates with school district administration to collect and report State examination data for FLIGHT students to the Program Manager.
• Establishes and maintains systems to report completed internships and work force credentials earned.
• Coordinates with school district administration to design, administer, and report student/parent satisfaction surveys.
• Maintains program inventory and coordinates the ordering of necessary program supplies in alignment of program needs and budget constraints using the established expenditure approval process.
• Maintains collaborative relationship with current partners and identifies new partners where partner goals and FLIGHT program goals are seen to align.
• Attends ODE meetings as directed and approved by the Program Manager.
• Coordinates with the Program Manager and the Local Evaluator to provide after school program compliance data.
• Establishes and maintains systems of communication to effectively and efficiently communicate with program participants, parents/guardians, Program Manager, and Graham MS staff and administration.
• Establishes and maintains processes leading to regular parent meetings that facilitate social development, disseminate program information, and build positive working relationships.
• Performs other duties deemed necessary by Graham Local Schools and the Champaign Family YMCA to ensure success of the FLIGHT program.
• Demonstrate a positive, creative, energetic, goal oriented, and “kid friendly” demeanor as the face of the FLIGHT Program.

Qualifications:
• Licensure as an Ohio teacher or administrator preferred.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience supervising university pre-licensure candidates and/or resident educators.
• Proven ability to delegate responsibility to less experienced educators and monitor assigned responsibilities.
• Experience overseeing curriculum development and lesson implementation for P-12 students.
• Experience and proven ability to coordinate with internal and external resources to support P-12 student growth and development.
• Experience and/or demonstrated ability to establish, develop, and modify program administration processes related to academic data collection, grant compliance, ODE afterschool programming compliance, and budget oversight.
