Mechanicsburg Police Department POLICE PATROL OFFICER

Mechanicsburg Police Department
​The Village of Mechanicsburg is seeking applicants for the position of (1) Full-Time POLICE PATROL OFFICER. The major duties of a Mechanicsburg Patrol Officer include Responding to calls for service, patrolling to deter and detect crime, investigating complaints, citing and/or arresting law violators, following up on pending reports and cases, problem solving, protecting persons and property, and securing prisoners. When not responding to calls for service, the Officer is expected to use self-directed work time in an efficient manner by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel. The Department Mission Statement, System of Values, policies and procedures, training, and supervision guide officers.

To be eligible for the employment, an applicant must meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:
  1. U.S. Citizen
  2. High school graduate or GED.
  3. OPOTA Certification
  4. Valid driver’s license.

To be considered for employment, the applicant must meet the above minimum requirements and qualifications, and must successfully complete all of the following:
  • Written Test
  • Physical Fitness Test – Pass/Fail.
  • Background Investigation (that may include criminal history, driving record, education, prior employment, credit report, etc.).

Starting Pay:
Year 1 - $18.00 per hour
Year 2 - $19.00 per hour
Year 3 - $20.00 per hour
Year 4+ – Percentage annual raises

Schedule: This position will work is a rotating 12-hour shift from 7pm-7am with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off with 4 hours of Overtime each pay period.

Champaign Countywide Communication Center is now hiring a Public Safety Telecommunicator/Dispatcher. 

Job Classification:  
Public Safety Telecommunicator/ Dispatcher 

Description:  Receives all 9-1-1, Admin calls and radio messages, dispatches appropriate First Responders agencies for all of Champaign County. 
Salary Information:   
Full time starting at $18.75 to $23.03 under current scale  
Full Time Lateral starting at $19.12 - $21.05 under current scale 
Part Time starting at $17.25 to $18.00 

Benefit Information:  80 hours of vacation upon completion of (1) year probation, Holiday Pay for (11) Holidays and if worked time and a half;  Sick time accrual at 4.6 hours; Comp Time accrual at time and a half.  Additional benefits may include DTO (Dispatch Training Operator) and OIC (Operator in Charge).  Deferred Comp, Life Insurance, Health, Dental, and Vision are available to full time employees. 

Department Overview:  Champaign Countywide Communications Center serves all of Champaign County.  We are a combined dispatch center that intakes all calls for service and processes entries into LEADS and/or NCIC. 

County Information:  Champaign County is located in Central West Ohio and is approximately 430 square miles with a population of approximately 40,000. 
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
Be at least 18 years of age 
Have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) 
Have a valid Ohio Driver’s License (Applicants that recently moved to Ohio shall obtain an Ohio Driver’s License (1) year from the date of employment). 
Never been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or is currently not under indictment for any criminal offense, includes conviction of any family offense of violence and no current and/or previous charge or conviction of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with the last (5) years. 

Minimum Requirements:  
Be a United States Citizen 
Be subject to a thorough background investigation and personal interviews by agency personal 
Be Subject to finger print through local, State and Federal  
Demonstrate good reading, oral and written skills in the English language. 
Be prepared to testify in court if served a subpoena 
Complete eighteen weeks of knowledge based, computer application and geographical training to be released from the training program.

Minimum Certifications: LEADS/NCIC, CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS 700, IS 800, IS 144 & 40 Hour Basic Training. 

Be prepared to testify in court if served a subpoena

Champaign County Sheriff's Office is now hiring a Deputy Sheriff! Deputy Sheriffs are responsible for protecting the life and property of citizens through the enforcement of the law and through the investigation of felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses. Therefore, candidates for Deputy Sheriff must possess certification as a Peace Officer from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission before beginning the selection process.

Sworn Deputy Sheriff applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Deputy Sheriffs must possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license.

The Village of Mechanicsburg is seeking a Water Operator with a Class I Water license and a Wastewater Operator with a Class II Wastewater license. 
​
The successful candidate(s) will be in charge of the plants and work with the existing staff to operate and maintain the facilities. Position can be full time for an Operator with both W/WW license – 40 hours per week. This would be a salaried position. If Operators were hired separately this could be part time hourly position. Emergency work, weekend work and evening work will be required. Rate of pay is competitive but dependent on experience and certifications. Mechanicsburg is an EOE.

To be eligible for the civil service examinations, an applicant must meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:
1. U.S. Citizen.
2. Age 21 to 69 on the date of the test.
3. High school graduate or GED.
4. Vision correctable to 20/20.
5. Valid driver’s license.

To be considered for employment, the applicant must meet the above minimum requirements and qualifications, and must successfully complete all of the following:
• Written Aptitude Test – Minimum passing score 70%.
• Physical Fitness Test – Pass/Fail.
• Background Investigation (includes criminal history, driving record, education, prior employment, credit report, etc.).
• Polygraph Examination.
• Psychological Examination.
• Medical Examination.
• Drug Screen.

The Darany & Associates entry level written aptitude test will be conducted at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Urbana High School, 500 Washington Avenue, Urbana, Ohio. Registration will begin at 7:00am. The Physical Fitness Test will be given on the same date, starting at 11:00am, at the same location and will finish at the Urbana High School track at the Urbana High School Boyce Street Complex, 987 Boyce Street, Urbana Ohio, or, the Simon Kenton Bike Trail, beginning at the State Route 55 location, Urbana, Ohio.

Immediate openings for 12 hour and 24 hour shifts are available for all successful candidates completing the interviewing process along with successful completion of the regional EMS protocol written and practical test.
