The Village’s 
preference is to hire a level 1 Water combined with a level 2 Wastewater. We will consider hiring a lesser level than the EPA requirements. The position is a full-time position offering benefits.
Job Functions:

Job Requirements:
 At least 18 years of age or older. 
 High school graduate.
 Possess a valid Ohio driver's license. CDL is preferred but not required.
 Ohio EPA Class I Water Distribution Certificate and an Ohio EPA Level 2 Waste
Water Treatment Certificate, or willing to obtain these within two (2) years of
hire.

This position assists the Facilities Planner in inventorying and documenting the condition of primary components of City-owned facilities, participates in developing various scopes of work required for building and facility maintenance, including but not limited to HVAC, Roofing, Flooring, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, Energy & Utilities, Environmental & Safety Regulation Compliance, Grounds Maintenance, Custodial Support, Space Allocation & Assignments, etc.

Assists in planning, directing, coordinating & budgeting interior/exterior building maintenance for multiple city owned facilities – such as, janitorial/custodial services, painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, security, and other skilled and semi-skilled trades of work; provides information necessary to update facility management reporting system, assists in ensuring facilities meet the needs of various departments by helping with the procurement, maintenance and upgrades of furniture, utilities, security systems and signage. The City of Urbana, Ohio is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Street Maintenance at $17.30 per hour in the Public Works Division, under the direction of the Street Supervisor. The Street Maintenance performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of street and storm drainage facilities and systems. They also track, document and maintain a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, material usage and labor/time, as requested; assist with planning, scheduling and implementation of construction, maintenance, and operation activities designed to provide quality street and drainage service. Assist with training of lower level employees performing the duties of maintenance, construction, and repair of street and storm drainage facilities; Inspects streets, drainage systems and sewer systems at frequent intervals insuring all aspects of the systems are functioning properly; assist in the repair of any necessary issues; determine the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation through OUPS and/or City/County Engineers Offices. Respond to complaints regarding signage, pot holes, flooding, right-of-way issues, traffic signals, street lights and other related issues; evaluate and explain findings to supervisor; contact residents and business owners in the event services or access may be discontinued because of necessary repairs, and explain when access or services will be restored; on a daily basis: inspect and insure all equipment and tools are properly maintained; clean and inspect equipment and tools after each use; immediately report any defects or needed repairs to the supervisor. Perform all duties in compliance with current safety and security standards; perform required labor needed in tree trimming along public right of ways and City owned property; perform required labor needed in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew; including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling; as needed: cut, fit, lay, repair, tap, clean and/or flush storm water mains as well as operate a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the Street Division of Public Works as directed/assigned.

The qualifications for this position include the following:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and CDL (Class B) certification; maintain such as a condition of continued employment.
  • Working knowledge of various equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities; knowledge and understanding of the City’s personnel rules and policies.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for a period of time; identify and professionally respond to community issues, concerns and needs; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing (computer skills, i.e. e-mail, Word processing and Spreadsheet/Excel); analyze problems, identify alternate solutions and confer with supervisor regarding implementation; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Public Works Superintendent, Street Supervisor, staff, private and community organizations, developers, contractors and others encountered in the course of work.

The Victim Advocate is responsible to assists victims of crime and surviving families in cases of death by serving as a resource for immediate crisis intervention, referrals, and follow-up support. This position reports directly to the Prosecuting Attorney and works directly with Investigator’s as well as other law enforcement agencies in Champaign County to ensure the needs of victims are met. The Victim Advocate provides advocacy services and immediate crisis intervention to victims either through personal or telephone contact; ensures victims are aware of their rights as provided by the Constitution of the State of Ohio; provides information regarding the investigative and criminal justice processes. Responsible for informing and assisting victims with obtaining financial remedies for expenses related to the crime through victim compensation and/or community resources; serves as an informed source of support to the victim during the immediate crisis. Assesses victim needs and provide information and referrals for follow-up services; acts as a liaison between victims and the criminal justice system; keeps accurate statistical records of victim contacts. Responsible for maintaining victim brochures and accurate community resources; ability to apply logic in a multi-tasking environment. Comprehends and processes new information quickly and accurately; ability to establish and maintain working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, law enforcement personnel and the public; attends monthly support and training meetings.

The qualifications for this position include the following:
  • Training in compliance with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social science or related field and (1) year volunteer experience in a victim assistance program OR satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training is preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation with motor vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to work on-call schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have good knowledge of Ohio constitutional amendment giving victim’s rights interested.
  • Must be familiar with Marsy’s Law and its application.
  • Possess sensitivity and good communication skills in working with crime victims.

The Urbana City Council is currently accepting resumes for the appointed position of Clerk of Council. This is a part-time salaried position working directly with Urbana City Council. Annual salary range is $12,000 to $16,000.

The hours are flexible, well be set by Council and Tuesday evenings at least twice a month, with a possible third evening.

The Clerk of Council’s responsibilities and preferred job skills include but are not limited to:
  • Keeping an accurate and complete journal of the proceedings of Council meetings and authenticating each ordinance or resolution by signing in accordance with Urbana City Charter Section 2.14.
  • Preparing meeting agendas, minutes of meetings, and official correspondence.
