Champaign Family YMCA is now hiring! We are currently looking for two aquatics coordinators (one for daytime hours and one for evening hours). These will be part-time, non-exempt positions with hours ranging from 15-30 hours per week. The aquatics coordinators will lead the operations of the aquatics department. Duties include staff supervision, staff development, budget management, safety assurance and planning.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires strong organizational, supervisory and communication skills, as well as the ability to coach predominately teenage staff and members to reach health and developmental goals. An associate's degree in physical education, sports management or sports science is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate. Must possess current YMCA or Red Cross lifeguarding and swim instruction certification OR be willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participate with direct supervisor to develop annual goals and budget. 2. Provide effective leadership and supervision for all aspects of lifeguard and aquatics program staffing including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluations. 3. Supervision of lifeguards, including monthly in-service trainings, safety drills, and performance evaluations. Maintain up to date files on all staff, including certification and training records. Responsible for having a lifeguard on duty during their designated hours. 4. Develop and maintain aquatic programming to assure quality of instruction and excellent customer service. 5. Function as an active member of the Y team, including participation in special events, proficiency in the Y's operating system, and effective communication and management. Maintenance of a caseload of families/children who require protective assistance;
Provision of adoption and post adoption services to children and families.
